What are whole foods?

Whole foods are foods that are as close to their natural state as possible — they are not been heavily processed, refined, or altered. They’re usually free from artificial additives, preservatives, or added sugars.

In short: whole foods = real foods.


Examples of Whole Foods:

  • Fruits – apples, bananas, berries, oranges, mangoes, tangerine, sweet corn
  • Vegetables – spinach, carrots, broccoli, squash, sweet potatoes
  • Whole grains – brown rice, quinoa, oats, barley, millet. rice, wheat
